THE PROJECT
SoundCloud was interested in scaling their curation efforts while also providing more relevant and personalized playlists. As part of this initiative, they purchased the AI company Musiio. SoundCloud began experimenting with machine learning algorithmic playlists based on moods and activities and needed to better understand what worked and what didn’t.
THE SOLUTION
We deployed our curation team to evaluate and rate the AI models based on the client’s goals and concepts. These playlists drew from a wide array of genres and were keyed to a broad range of moods and activities. They sought qualitative feedback from our experts, in terms of the specific selections generated, and also feedback on how the choices fit with the overall goals of the playlist.
THE RESULTS
Feedback from our curation team helped SoundCloud improve its algorithmic offerings, leading to a richer playlist experience for its users.
